EOSS-289 Summit Middle School STEM Flight - Recap

EOSS-289 with seven Summit Middle School student payloads weighting 6.3 pounds, an experimental ADS-B aircraft beacon, two GPS-equipped radio beacons, and a 12 ft. Rocketman parachute were launched on a 1500 gram balloon from the Eaton, CO Middle School launch site (N40° 13.48', W104° 4.63') at an elevation of 4,564 feet at 8:09 AM MDT on Apr. 14, 2019.  The launch site was located just off the south parking lot.    The last packet received before balloon burst was at 9:34 AM at an altitude of 96,246 ft.

The Earth is Not FlatEOSS-287 with eight University of Colorado Gateway to Space payloads weighting 12.48 pounds, two GPS-equipped radio beacons, and a 12 ft. Rocketman parachute were launched on a 3000 gram balloon from the Wiggins, CO launch site (N40° 13.48', W104° 4.63') at an elevation of 4,564 feet at 6:30:00 AM MDT on Apr. 14, 2019. The launch site was located slightly north of the football field.

EOSS-285 with nine Colorado Space Grant Consortium student payloads weighting 15.5 pounds, two GPS-equipped radio beacons, and a 12 ft. Rocketman parachute was launched on a 3000 gram balloon from the Eaton Middle School in Eaton, CO launch site (N40° 31.58', 104° 43.40') at an elevation of 4845 feet at 07:13 AM MST on Apr.

EOSS-283 Qualification Flight Recap

EOSS-283 was launched from Windsor Colorado on 3/10/2019 with six EOSS beacons.  All payloads were recovered just north of the Colorado state line in Nebraska, near Peetz, Colorado.

This flight was particularlly challenging from the beginning because of multiple postponements due to the weather.  Finally, we had a calm day, no extremely cold weather or snow, and a resonable flight prediction that showed landing in the state of Colorado.

EOSS-280 Metro State Intro to Space - Recap

EOSS-280 with eight student payloads weighting 14.32 pounds, two GPS-equipped radio beacons, and a 12 ft. parachute was launched on a 3000 gram balloon from the Deer Trail, CO launch site (N39° 36.63', 104° 2.53') at an elevation of 5,211 feet at 06:53 AM MST on Nov. 4, 2018. The last packet received before balloon burst was at 8:23 AM at an altitude of 106,717 ft. after an ascent averaging 1223 ft./min. Both the burst altitude and ascent rate were above average for a 3000g balloon.

EOSS-278 CU Science Discovery - Recap

EOSS-278 was launched out of Genoa, Colorado on 8/11/18 at 08:03 and acheived an altitude of 93,912 feet at 09:31.  The flight string landed at 10:15 in a pasture.  All payloads were recovered approximately 3.6 miles northwest of Peyton, Colorado.
