Monitor all three EOSS pico balloons here.
The solar panels on these beacons lay horizontal for maximum power with the sun high in the sky. Apparently below a sun angle of about 23 degrees, not enough power is generated to complete a transmission. At this time of year that is about 43 degreen north latitude. Thus, if the balloons drift above about 43 degrees latitude, the balloons "disappear" until they float back down. Hopefully in the summer things will get better and the balloons will be seen more.
EOSS launched two pico balloons on October 25, 2025 from HAMCON 2025 in Grand Junction, Colorado.
