EOSS Regular Meeting Minutes

April 11, 1995

All officers and six others present.

Meeting brought to order at 7:30 pm.

Ted Kline (N0RQV) read minutes of last meeting. Minutes accepted as read.

Treasurer's report given by Greg DeWit (N0JMH). As of 31 March 1995, EOSS has $2232.04 in checking and $1002.98 in savings, for a total of $3235.02.

Treasurer's report accepted.

Old Business:

Merle pointed out that there is still no education leader.

Mike Manes reported that the University of Colorado, Colo. Spgs. (UCCS) had called off their flight scheduled for the 14th of April. While the mechanical integration succeeded, something caused an electrical fuse to blow, and the pump used in the student's ozone measuring experiment could not be commanded on.

The possibility of moving EOSS-22 (the UCCS flight) to April 29th was discussed. On April 29th EOSS is scheduled to help track a flight by Gil Moore's Air Force Academy cadets, so discussion ensued about launching EOSS-22 on the same day as the Academy flight. On behalf of the tracking and recovery team, Greg Burnett (K0ELM) said they would support two balloon flights on the 29th.

Procedures for the rescheduling of scrubbed flights were discussed. A motion was proposed for future launch reschedulings: A launch can be scrubbed and immediately rescheduled one time for technical reasons. After further scrubs for technical reasons, a flight will not be rescheduled until hardware is proven to work. Weather-related scrubs are not counted. The motion failed 3-5.

Tracking and recovery is looking for hunters for the April 29th flight(s). Those not formally on the tracking and recovery team for a flight are asked to inform T&R net of actions (going on/off property etc.). Three copies of the WB3JZV triangulation program (ported to DOS) were distributed to interested members.

No PR report.

The World Wide Web homepage prepared by Rick VonGlahn (N0KKZ) was once again praised. You can see it at: http://www.eoss.org/index.html

Ground station worked fine at last UCCS integration test.

EOSS is still looking for the best way to spend the $1000 donated by Invesco.

New Business:

There will be a swapfest in Colo. Spgs. on May 20.

Merle will pass-on EOSS-22 info as he gets it.

Merle demonstrated the balloon launcher EOSS will use with the large plastic balloon that will be used for EOSS-22.

Meeting adjourned at 9:50.
