EOSS-392/393 COSGC Spring Flight - Recap

EOSS 392, 393 Heavies Rev B has new tops and bottoms. EOSS 392. 392, 394 Lites Rev A overweight waiting for final weights on April  1. We may have to drop some payloads.  This will be two 3000g balloons or three 1500g balloons carrying student payloads for the Colorado Space Grant Consortium program.   If clouds prevent the launch of 3000g balloons, the payloads will be separated and launched as 3, 1500g payloads.

EOSS 392 and EOSS 393 were launched from Deer Trail School Saturday April 4. There were 31 payloads from Colorado Home School, High School, College, and University students.  

EOSS 392 was launched at 7:00 burst at 7:55 at an altitude of 84,489ft. Flight time was 1 hr and 38 minutes, traveled 51.96miles landing S/E of Arriba CO, south of I70 Frontage road between N/S CR O and N/S CR 47.

EOSS 393 was launched at 7:22 burst at 8:39 at an altitude of 97,827ft. Flight time was 2 hr 30seconds, traveled 59.97 miles landing S/E of Flagler CO, between CR 8 and CR R.

Both landings were in high ground winds with barb wire fencing catching the parachutes and payloads.

  • Rocky Mountain Wide Network – Talk Group 700 - Rocky Mountain Ham Radio has approval to the use "Wide" for flight operations.
  • Central Colorado Regional Network – Talk Group 720 - On occasion, EOSS may use the Central Colorado Regional Network (Talk Group 720).
