From Castle Rock

Head east out of Castle Rock on State Rd. 86

Proceed 22 miles east to Elbert Rd (County Rd 25) which is approximately 1/2 mile west of downtown Kiowa.

Turn right or south onto Elbert Road.

Proceed approximately 8 miles south to the intersection with County Rd 98 in the town of Elbert.

Turn left or east onto CR 98

Proceed east on CR 98 approximately 1.3 miles to a "T" intersection with CR 33.

Turn right or south on CR 33.

Proceed south on CR 33 for 1 mile to the intersection of CR 94.

Turn left or east onto CR 94

Proceed 1 mile east on CR 94 to the intersection of CR 37

Turn right or south onto CR 37

Proceed 1.4 miles to the entrance of the Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch on your right or to the west.

From Falcon, Colorado

Proceed North (east) on US 24 for 5.5 miles to Elbert Road (CR 25).

Turn left or north onto Elbert Road (CR 25)

Proceed 12.3 miles to the intersection of CR 82

Turn right or east onto CR 82

Proceed along CR 82. It winds its way a little to the south east and becomes CR 74.

Proceed approximately 1.7 miles along this meandering CR 82/74 to the intersection with CR 35.

Turn left or north on CR 35

Proceed north on CR 35 approximately 1/2 mile to CR 82 (again).

Turn right or east onto CR 82.

Proceed 1/2 mile to the intersection with CR 37.

Turn left or north on CR 37

Proceed approximately 1.4 miles to the entrance to the Pleasant Valley Scouts Ranch.

Approaching the entrance from the south the sign is not visible. Well, it is visible but you see only the back side and therefore just plywood, no text announcing that this is the entrance to the Scout Ranch.


The Camp Site

Dirt roads easily navigable by cars when dry but they do have a substantial groath of weeds in the center in some areas. If it rains, these roads will be difficult to cover in 4 wheel drive cars. Actual 4 wheel drive trucks (jeeps, etc.) should have no trouble.

This is the actual campsite for the JOTA part of the activities. This view is from the dirt road above. In that picture you see a building. This site is approximately 300 yards further west. The building above is NOT that shown in the first picture above.
