Recap of EOSS-113HF Net Recapby Dave Galpin, KB0LP, net control
An EOSS flight net was held on 40 meters from 0700 to 1000 on Saturday
November 11. After some e-mail prompting from Rick, N0KKZ, Keith, WA0TJT, who
is with the Kansas Near Space Group, checked in from Kansas City. We held a
QSO with 5 X 9 signals throughout the flight, comparing the positions I was
reading directly from the balloon with what Keith was seeing on FindU. KC5TRB
in Oklahoma reported by e-mail that he heard the net but could not check in.
Attempts were made to contact Marty, WA0GEH, who was mobile with the tracking
and recovery team. However, they were not successful. During the recovery
phase, the UHF net reported that most of the recovery team was out of repeater
range and Marty was trying to check in on 40 meters. Still no copy in
Centennial. Cal, W7IZL in Billings and Bud, KB5WCZ, in Oklahoma, who were
finishing up a QSO on a nearby frequency, were recruited to listen for Marty
from different skip distances. Still no joy. The net was then closed at about
1000.
