This picture is included to show the size of the balloon at low altitude. There is NO change in magnification (zoom) from this picture to the next. The balloon's increase in size is due to expansion in the lower pressure environment at burst altitude.

 

This picture and the following pictures are from consecutive frames from the video tape of EOSS-30. Each picture is separated in time from the preceding by 1/30th of a second.

 

The balloon begins to shred from the lower right "corner".

 

One thirtieth of a second later half the balloon has "decomposed".

 

Shredding continues.
